Policies

Thank you for choosing Narelle Shannon Counselling Services to assist you. It is important that you understand how the services work and have control over the work we do together.

Confidentiality

Everything discussed with the counsellor is strictly confidential and counselling notes are stored securely. In the event it is necessary to communicate with others regarding your situation, your counsellor will discuss it with you beforehand. With your permission, your counsellor will work cooperatively with other professionals working with you.

Duty of Care

In order to meet ethical responsibilities, confidentiality may be limited in cases where there is an ongoing threat of physical or emotional harm, to yourself or to any other person. At times some aspects of a client’s case may be discussed confidentially with the counsellor’s professional supervisor in order to improve the work you and your counsellor do together.

Intake Questionnaire

By completing the intake questionnaire you will be helping your counsellor to understand how best to help you. The information is strictly confidential and you need not answer any questions you don’t want to answer. It is essential that you provide current contact details in order for us to reach you between appointments if necessary.

Fees

Fees for counselling are listed under Services. Payment is due at the completion of each appointment and may be paid by cash or cheque. In the case that your employer is paying for the service, an invoice will be sent directly to that employer after each appointment. Confidentiality is maintained and no individuals are named on invoices sent to an employer.

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep your appointment it would be greatly appreciated if you could contact us as soon as possible so that another client may use that period of time. Less than 24 hours notice will attract a minimum $25.00 cancellation fee. Non-attendance without notification will attract the full fee. We will always attempt to contact you the day before your appointment to confirm your attendance.
